OptiProducts began as an effort to improve Gerber Cutter performance in 1982 while working on a side project for Flexsteel Industries. In 1985 MicroDynamics took on the Products OptiCut and OptiDrive. In 1988 Bob Edwards joined Micro to head up their cutting systems. When the deal for Micro to acquire German cutter manufacturer Bullmer failed, Bob was asked to lead a sales effort to lead Micro into the Furniture and Automotive industries. Bob continued as Manager of Cutting Systems during this effort and helped establish MicroMark and PreVue products worldwide. When Micro faltered, Bob became an independent Rep and also added Cutting Edge to his client list. When Gerber acquired Micro, Bob focused full-time on helping sell and develop new systems for Cutting Edge. When Cutting Edge was likewise acquired by Gerber, this left Bob again a "free agent" and brief relationships with Eastman and Humantec have evolved OptiProducts, Inc. into the company it is today.
